Southern University of Bangladesh is located at the south-eastern part of Bangladesh called Chittagong. The region with its lash green beauty that stands as the historic gateway to Bangladesh. It is the second largest city popularly known as commercial capital of Bangladesh. The port city has an international airport, extended sea beach and an export processing zone (EPZ) for direct foreign investments.
History:
1998: To fulfill the academic, moral and practical needs of business graduates with computer knowledge an Institute was established for joint enrollment programs to offer Bachelor, Master’s in a variety of disciplines.
2001: The sponsors of the institute, Professor Sarwar Jahan, Professor Dr. Ishrat Jahan formed a non-profit organizationunder which Southern University was sponsored and established.
2002: To offer high quality educational opportunities in order to enable students to reach their individual academic goals, Southern University Bangladesh absorbed. University Grants Commission (UGC) Bangladesh, which is the highest accredited body for Bangladeshi universities and the Ministry of Education of the Govt. of Bangladesh recognizes Southern University’s curriculum and approves Southern as one of the legal private universities in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Mission of Southern University: The mission of Southern University is to offer high quality educational opportunities to enable the students achieve their individual academic goals by providing modern knowledge, ideas, technical competence, communication skills and developing their creative mental faculties properly.
Vision of Southern University: The vision of Southern University is to attain academic excellence in all its academic programs for creating globally competitive professionals by creating congenial teaching, learning and research environment
Implementation of the Mission
This mission is accomplished by offering specialized course works in a variety of disciplines. A highly individualized, creative learning environment incorporates both traditional and innovative instructional techniques.
Programs are highly flexible involving directed course works together with supervised study and research.
